Social, Cultural and Feminist Theory
Social and cultural theory in all their variations are a central area
of interest, with staff exploring a wide range of questions about the
conceptual and theoretical aspects of sociological thought. These include:
1.questions about the status of the modern, hypermodern and postmodern,
with reference to thinkers like Habermas, Derrida and Lyotard;
2.issues in the analysis of culture, including the links between culture
and power, the analysis of high and popular culture, and the theories of
Bourdieu;
3.a concern with the importance of moral questions to both sociology and
areas like economics, including the relevance of reflexivity to morality;
4.an interest in anti-positivist, interpretive thinking as developed in
some strands of ethnomethodology and analysis;
5.a concern with the sociology and philosophy of knowledge, particularly
with questions about expertise (both academic and vernacular) and progress;
6.issues arising from the analysis of social space and social place,
including urban spaces;
7.an interest in theorising social interaction and social order from
ethnomethodological and Wittgensteinian perspectives;
8.a concern with how best to theorise power;
9.an interest in theories of modernity, agency and economic life, as applied
to complex organisations; and
10.last but by no means least, a concern with the interface between feminist
theory, gender theory and sociological theory, in particular around ideas
about methodology and epistemology, regarding anti-positivism and
interpretivism, and especially concerning the relevance of reflexivity to
feminist scholarship.

也有一些做...醫療社會學、科技社會學、藝術社會學
也有對Foucault、Bourdieu的人 而且 有些教授也有公開說 他們需要什麼樣的Ph.D
真是貼心的好學校
而且 真的研究的東西我都蠻有興趣的∼
也是我最近摸到的一些興趣的方向∼ps.這裡感覺像是蘇格蘭的UCSD

還有 這裡研究國族主義是一個重鎮～ 台灣是個國族主義的「謬誤」XD

Across the School there are particular concentrations of expertise on
Scotland, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Central, East
