Consumer Society: A Graduate Seminar(I)

消費社會琳瑯滿目的現象吸引了許多文化研究的學生,然而相關議題的研究產出卻容易流於令人困窘的膚淺與支離。本課程將廣泛介紹有關消費社會的重要理論觀點與分析概念,並分別研讀社會學、文化人類學以及文化史有關消費社會的經典研究。目的在培養深入探討消費社會的認知觀點與分析能力。本課程計七個子題,分為上下兩個學期。下學期子題六、七,可視為Pierre Bourdieu與Jean Baudrillard關於消費社會的經典著作專題研討。兩學期構成完整的研究訓練課程,但亦可分別選修。

課堂引言和討論參與佔學期成績40%。兩篇子題單元評論,每篇約五千字,各佔學期成績15%,一篇學期報告,約一萬字,佔學期成績30%。學期報告綜合(兩)學期課程的訓練,可採三種形式:(i)深入理論議題的主題式探討(ii)特定經驗議題進行理論性分析的研究報告 (iii)以理論分析觀點界定經驗現象與研究方法的研究計畫。
